About this Presenter
Bossissi Nkuba, is a researcher at the Center of Expertise on Mining Governance (CEGEMI) and a lecturer at the Université Catholique de Bukavu, focusing on environmental impacts of extractive industries. Under the Minamata Convention program, he lead the study of the socio-economy of the Congolese artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) and its use of mercury, as well as the development of the National Action Plan to reduce mercury use in ASGM. Bossissi is also doing a PhD in environment toxicology, looking at ASGM derived inorganic pollutants and their effect on water, fish and human communities, at the University of Antwerp.
